Willow Springs began as a stagecoach stop located by a big spring surrounded by willow trees, just a few miles from its current location. Today Willow Springs is a quiet, peaceful Ozarks town with a population of about 2200. Willow Springs offers a relaxed, easygoing country lifestyle, a low cost of living, clean air and water, sparkling creeks and rivers, rolling wooded hills and productive pastures and hay land.

There are tens of thousands of acres of the Mark Twain National Forest within just a few miles of town plus thousands more in the Missouri Department of Conservation's Natural and Conservation Areas, our nearby state parks, and our part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The Ozark Ridge Runner Trail and the Devil’s Backbone Wilderness Area are both just a few miles from town.

Noblett Lake in the national forest and Simms Valley Lake are our local fishing lakes and Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake, both a little further away, offer great boating, water-skiing, fishing and swimming. However, you don’t have to go any further than Willow Springs, Howell County, and the Mark Twain National Forest to enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, camping, birding and horseback riding.

Our forests and woodlands support a large and varied wildlife population. Our many spring-fed creeks and rivers offer fishing, swimming, kayaking and canoeing and include the North Fork of the White River, the North and South Prongs of the Jacks Fork River, the Eleven Point River, the Current River, Spring River, Bryant Creek and many more. All of them also offer the incredible natural beauty of our southern Missouri Ozarks.

Willow Springs offers a mild climate with four distinct seasons, each about equal in length. Spring and autumn temperatures range from 50-70 degrees. Summers from the 70s-90s. Average January temperatures are usually in the 40s during the day. Average annual rainfall is 44 inches while average annual snowfall is about 14 inches.

Willow Springs Schools offer the A+ Schools Program which is designed to provide students with a solid academic curriculum. For higher education, there’s Missouri State University in West Plains, Drury College in Cabool, Southwest Baptist University in Mountain View, and the South Central Career Center for vocational and technical training.
